"Prep Time"-study

Created from a photo taken during a local Round Up in Bozeman, what caught my eye was his pink rope (it really was pink!). I decided to highlight it by keeping everything else about this cowboy in a somewhat muted palette. He's in blue values and the sky has a pale yellow base with blue scumbled over the top. All of this keeps the 'competition' for the pink rope low. The yellow in the sky helped create a stronger silhouette for the cowboy, but the blue haze over it kept it from taking over with too much contrast. All in all, that pink rope became the strong focal point of this piece.
