Spirit of the Elders

The concept for "Spirit of the Elders" came from a wonderful bison skull displayed in my studio. I took several reference photos of it with dramatic lighting, creating a contrasting image with lighting, shadows, and abstraction. I applied multiple layers of drips, scrapes, and tooling with anything I could find over a textured cradled panel. Afterwards, I overlaid the skull, highlighting his shadows in deep reds. The result is a textured image of a bison skull juxtaposed against an imaginary field. ~tch
