Afton Ray is a mixed-media painter from Sidney, Montana-Badlands country, where the western way of life is her inspiration and a daily fact. Her work is built in translucent and painterly layers that she refers to as “Expressive Realism”.  The textured surface is atmospheric and tactile, and her palette is limited and bold. Afton's an Out  West Art Show artist at the Russell in Great Falls and her artwork was once chosen by George Strait for a special promotion.
