This explosion of color and texture is like experiencing a celebration, a festival, or even a garden party! The translation of the title, "Di Gala", is gala, which is the perfect description of this piece.

I'm a big fan of iris. I regularly cut them from my garden in Southern California, and often placed in a treasured hand-blown vase I found in a junk shop in Bisbee, Arizona. One late afternoon, I noticed that the colors were highlighted on one side from the low sun coming in the window. The rest of the room was dark except for the brilliantly featured image on the glass table. I captured it with my camera, then forgot about it until years later when I rediscovered the image in my files. I recreated that moment with wild strokes of colors and textures as a celebration of the beauty from that low afternoon sun. ~tch
