I have been a fan of working cowboys since my early teens and often attend local ranch rodeos to capture their images for my work. This piece is an updated version from one I painted several years ago in 2012, as seen in the Petite Colour, "Timeless West: Bridger Feed". When I took the photo, I was thrilled with the way the low sun hits the man and his horse at the very end of the day when the sun is as brilliantly gold as it can be. The extreme lighting allowed me to exaggerate the colors to create the emotion of their strong silhouette against the golden "sun" in my imaginary world. The abstracted background surrounding the orb helped describe the feeling of the dust and disarray of an arena during the events. ~tch
