"Steeling the Peach"

"A cold layer of steel overcomes the essence of this perfectly ripened peach"

This piece started as a simple digitally painted study of a peach using Photoshop brushes. The result looked like a yummy peach but lacked some luster. Peaches are cool, but this one just hung there in space, uninspired. I’m personally not drawn to super-realism, so to add some punch, I roughed it up a bit. Like my hair and clothing, I tend to fancy layers. So, I infused an image of one of my hand-painted abstracts, digitally brushed on the loose squares and strokes over and under the peach and added painted color layers to boost the effect. I’m much happier with my “steel peach” than the original off-the-shelf fruit. Sure, it’s inedible, but you can’t have everything. ~kg
