"Lilacs are one of the fleeting blossoms of early summer in Bozeman, briefly releasing their fragrance for our pleasure." One morning a few years ago, I laid several of their cuttings in a long ceramic vase on our counter. That evening, as the full moon rose over the mountains, I captured the cool light skipping across them, revealing a variety of periwinkles and pinkish violets among the chartreuse foliage. The light of the rising moon provided intriguing patterns emerging from the deep shadows of the room. ~tch
