In California, spring is really close to springing. I’m seeing buds on the mulberry, blue florets on the rosemary, bright yellow blossoms on the acacia, and my personal favorite herald of spring, a haze of purpling that crowns the wild lilacs. It’s the “new” time of year when nature starts over from the beginning, fresh and vigorous.

All this activity is right in my backyard, or very near it. With all the busy-ness going on in my life, it’s a treat to stop for a sec and watch the newness do its thing.

So, in anticipation of the new start for the year that’s almost, almost, almost here, we decided to create some botanicals to remind us of the beauty that’s right around the corner.

The piece featured here (with more to come soon!) is derived from a photo of the mulberry in my backyard last year. It’s a great reminder of good things to come when it gets gloomy outside my window, or inside my soul.

Nothing like a bit of greenery to Color Up your life!

Whether it’s mulberry or dogwood or flowering shrubs or cacti (We love cacti! Or cactuses. Whatever.), we hope you’ll breathe in the spring that’s in your own backyard, even just a little bit, to get your day started.

“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.” ~ Martin Luther
