Breaking news, sort of: Art is not just a fancy extra. Art is good for you! It’s true. I looked it up.

Art can elevate mood and lower stress levels. Having art around you improves mental and emotional health by providing a calming or energizing visual experience. It fosters self-expression and promotes mindfulness. In short, art is healthy!

Ok, good. We can all improve our soul-health by including art in it. But then, how do we know what art is? Personally, I don’t think a banana duct-taped to a wall is art. It’s merely an invitation for fruit flies. But that’s me. Perhaps you think banana art is hysterically cheeky and a steal at $6.2 mil. That’s ok if it makes you happy and you have plenty of expendable cash.

But if your definition of art isn’t fruit and duct tape, how would you define it? Are you a fan of sculptures, collages or artfully funky memorabilia? Would you prefer a gallery wall showing off finger paints by your children or grandchildren? How about vintage accessories in shadow boxes? Or more traditionally, do you resonate best with paintings by an artist you admire?

That’s the most fun and healthy part. YOU get to decide what art is.

We’re all about creating spaces that feel like a personal retreat, whether it’s just a corner in the kitchen or the whole house. So let’s color this a Call to Arms in the interest of good health. Express yourself with art in your very own space, however you define it. Let it calm you down or jazz you up. Create a sanctuary that reflects you, through and through. You’ll find yourself inspired, lifted and … healthy.

Banana optional.

Let's Muse Together

Yo! Grab a cuppa something foamy and a low-cal pastry and let's chat about creating havens in our lives - with art, with things we love and with people we love.
